Legal protection insurance claim

Report a legal protection insurance claim

To quickly report a legal protection insurance loss, please fill out a claim online. ERGO legal protection insurance clients are assisted and losses handled by ERGO’s partner DEAX Õigusbüroo OÜ.

What to do in the case of a claim event?

Step 1: Call our helpline

If you are involved in a legal dispute (or about to get into one), please call us using our helpline number 660 4900 (weekdays from 9.00–17.00). A lawyer will listen to your case description and help you assess the situation and options for further steps from the legal side.

Step 2: Decision on whether to file a claim

Based on the initial information available during the call, our advising lawyer can also assess whether your case could qualify as an insured event within the meaning of the legal protection insurance conditions. This way, on the one hand, we can better ensure that a fully justified and eligible loss event still receives ERGO’s professional treatment and, on the other hand, if the event does not meet the insurance conditions, we can avoid unnecessary claims while valuing your time.

Step 3: Filing a claim

If, on the basis of the initial information received from you, the advising lawyer does not identify an exclusion arising from the insurance conditions in your case and advises you to file a claim with the ERGO claim handling department, you can fill out the relevant application right here on our website. For operational reasons, it is important that you describe your legal problem as accurately as possible and attach to the application all the documents and evidence related to the case.

Step 4: Decision on whether it is a loss event or not

If you have submitted the claim to the claim handling department, we will send you a case registration notice within two working days, which will also let you know whether the underlying documentation of the claim is sufficient for the loss event recognition and legal justification and what (additional) documents and certificates we need to make a decision on recognising the case as a loss event. It is possible that the lawyer handling the claim under the legal protection insurance will call you to discuss these matters. Once the documentation and evidence related to the case have been collected, the lawyer will analyse the case and the related evidence, involving another lawyer or advocate, if necessary, and will make a decision on whether to declare it a loss event within 14 days, at the latest. With this decision, you have received the answer of a legal specialist to two questions: ⇒ whether your claim has a legal chance of success in order to achieve the desired result; ⇒ whether the case is covered by the insurance cover, i.e., whether ERGO’s partner DEAX Õigusbüroo OÜ will proceed with the case and bear the resulting legal and judicial costs.

Response within two working days

If the advising lawyer has advised you to file a claim based on the initial information they have received, please fill out the application below. We will send you a case registration notice within two (2) working days, which will also let you know whether the underlying documentation of the claim is sufficient for the loss event recognition and legal justification and what (additional) documents and certificates we need to make a decision on recognising the case as a loss event. It is possible that the lawyer handling the claim will call you to discuss these matters. If the documentation and evidence related to the case have been collected, the lawyer handling the claim will analyse the case and the related evidence, involving another lawyer or advocate, if necessary, and will make a decision on whether to declare it a loss event within 14 days, at the latest.
