Actions to take in the event of an incident
In the case of motor TPL insurance
- If people have been injured as a result of a traffic accident, then give first aid to the victims and call an ambulance.
- If the parties involved in the traffic accident cannot agree on the culpability, the police must be called to the scene.
- Be sure to document the traffic accident – the most convenient way is to do it digitally on your mobile phone at avarii.lkf.ee. If the form cannot be filled out in your mobile phone or the loss event took place abroad, please fill out the following form. Make sure that the person who caused the damage confirms their liability for causing the damage with their signature.
- If possible, take pictures of the scene and the vehicles involved in the accident.
- Digital traffic accident notifications are automatically forwarded to insurance companies. If you made the statement on paper form, then contact the insurance company of the person responsible for the traffic damage as soon as possible to report the traffic damage.
- The ERGO motor third party liability insurance policy for passenger cars and motorcycles is accompanied by free Traffic+ towing assistance, which helps in the event of a motor third party liability insurance event to tow the damaged vehicle from the scene to the nearest repair shop or storage facility. For free assistance, please call 655 5401.
- In case of bodywork damage, please contact a suitable repair shop to assess the amount of damage. Use the map app to find a selection of repair shops in your area. For minor damage, it is worth considering whether it can be eliminated through dent removal or spot repair of the paintwork. The repair time in this case will be shorter than usual.
In the case of motor hull insurance
- Do everything you can to prevent the loss from escalating.
- All cases must be registered in accordance with applicable laws without leaving the scene.
- Traffic accidents must be registered either by a written report drawn up by the parties, or if people have been injured in the accident, the injured party is unknown or the parties do not agree on the person responsible, the incident must be reported to the police.
- A fire must be reported to the Estonian Rescue Board.
- Theft and vandalism must be reported to the police.
- Other events (falling of a tree on a car, falling of icicles on a car) must be reported to the police.
- A damaged vehicle, which cannot be properly closed, locked, and on which anti-theft devices cannot be activated, must not be left unattended. Removing the vehicle from the scene is the responsibility of the policyholder. For assistance, call the ERGO roadside assistance number +372 655 5401.
- If possible, take pictures of the damage and the scene.
- The incident must be reported to the insurer as soon as possible.
- ERGO motor hull insurance clients will also receive free ERGO roadside assistance. We offer free assistance for regular cars, vans, and motorcycles. For assistance, please call +372 655 5401. Free assistance is provided only when you call this particular number.
- In case of glass or bodywork damage, please contact a suitable repair shop to assess the amount of damage. Use the map app to find a selection of repair shops in your area. In the case of minor damage, it is worth considering whether it can be eliminated through dent removal or spot repair of the paintwork, before registering the loss event. In this case, the amount of damage is often below the deductible, and the repair time is shorter than usual.
Claim event abroad
If you have been involved in a traffic accident abroad, you must first register it, regardless of whether you are at fault or the victim. When registering a traffic accident and explaining the circumstances, please try to remain polite and calm.
