Liability insurance
In our everyday work we maintain legal relations with our clients and business partners. The possibility that use of a product or service results in a claim for damages cannot be ruled out. In the case of loss or damage, the injured party is entitled by law to claim compensation for the loss or damage sustained. Liability insurance covers bodily injuries and property loss or damage to third parties to the extent prescribed by law.Liability insurance does not cover additional contractual liability or self-inflicted loss or damage.
ERGO’s civil liability insurance has been designed both for individuals as well as legal entities. Civil liability insurance is mandatory for notaries public, auditors, bailiffs, patent agents and attorneys.
ERGO’s civil liability insurance provides coverage for professional, general or daily activity and practice.
ERGO’s civil liability insurance covers bodily injuries and property damage to third parties caused by the policyholder in his or her professional activity or practice and which the policyholder shall compensate by law.
Main sub-types of liability insurance are:
- General civil liability insurance - covers loss or damage
that you or your company have caused to third parties (e.g. leaving
streets unsanded in winter, in consequence whereof a third party slips
and breaks his or her leg).
- Professional civil liability insurance - covers loss or
damage that you or your company have caused to third parties with your
professional activity (e.g. incorrect engineering design, medical
mistreatment, loss or damage arising in consequence of illegal activity
of a bailiff).
- Product liability insurance – covers loss or damage suffered by third parties in consequence of using your substandard or defective product (e.g. leaking aquarium spoils flooring, a screw in a bun breaks a tooth, etc.).
